Month 12: Happy First Birthday!

One year old! Baby is walking (or very close), saying first words, and is a unique little person with clear preferences.

Physical milestones

• Walks with one hand held or independently
• May climb stairs with help
• Uses pincer grasp to self-feed
• Tries to throw a ball

Emotional and cognitive milestones

• Says 1-3 words besides mama/dada
• Follows simple directions
• Shows independence — wants to do things themselves
• May have a favorite book and ask for it repeatedly
